$5, 5 minutes train ride to JB !!!
Honestly, if you do not know, I am a Singaporean for my past 24 years and I have NEVER been to JB. Never! hahahaha
At most, I only past by it just to get to another part in Malaysia.
And it was only a SGD$5, 5 minutes train ride to JB from SG!

How amazing !
I never imagine I could travel out of Singapore at such price and such timing!
So here's a breakdown of my impromptu 2 day trip to JB!
So my aunt just asked me right the day before she is leaving. And I just agreed and I packed and I left!!! yaayyyyy!
but because it's such a last minute decision, I wasn't able to get an early timing for the train ticket so in the end I had to make my way there by myself at a later timing.
"So tip number 1 here: buy your tickets way earlier if you wanna travel by train to JB."
The train was just an old school train so nothing fantastic about it. However, it does look bit like the cheaper version of "train to Busan" !
If you are looking for that feel of a train but cannot afford to go to Korea, this is one good alternative!

Tip number 2: if you are buying your ticket online, you'll have to change it to your ticket at the reception at level one. Do note that they take a "30 mins" break around tea time... apparently their "30 mins" is wayyyy wayyy wayyy more than 30! so plan your time well, I suggest to go at least an hour before 3pm to just change our ticket otherwise when they go for their break at 3pm, you'll have to wait over an hour which is pretty frustrating...
and after changing to my ticket, I then headed upstairs and waited again...

seriously a lot of waiting...
Apparently, according to my aunt, if you are there earlier you can actually enter as soon as you are there and not have to wait. I kept waiting and waiting for at least an hour FYI!
My train departure time was 430pm and I waited in this queue till about 420pm before I was let in. And mind you I had to clear two customs, the Singapore one and the Malaysia one, before I could board the train. all these in 10 mins!
But gladly the train took off at 435pm instead! Phew!
So I reached after a 5 mins ride and of course, I had to get my daily dose of Starbucks! Especially when the store is just right in front of my eyes!

but then of course, Starbucks is still not as cheap as when I was in Indonesia! but still I get to taste something that Singapore does not have! Mocha Praline! Yum Yum!!
After which, we then took a short walk from the station to our hotel, place our stuff down and went out on a food hunt!
This trip was nothing but a food trip!
It was almost dinner time when we left the hotel, and our dinner was Bak Kut Teh! Omg! I don't eat pork when I am in SG, but when I go overseas, I try to eat everything I could and not have restrictions and guess what? That was definitely the right choice ! The Bak Kut Teh was just so awesome !
And you shall now start to DROOL!!!

Sorry I couldn't include the price here cause my aunt paid for it and I totally have no idea how much this cost! But it was definitely less than $40! Worth it!
After dinner, my aunt was craving for durians so we went on and had durian despite being so full from BKT! Well they say, you always have room for desserts! In fact, you have another stomach called the dessert stomach!
So we walked a few feet down the street from BKT and we found this stall with a very friendly boss!

Look at that juicy and tender meat! It was SO GOOD !
In total we spent about $90 on 3 durians, one of which was Mao Shan Wang!
So dinner and dessert was over and we are seriously feeling so damn full at the point we took a walk..
Then we decided we wanna have a relaxing night so we stepped into a hotel and went for a traditional Thai Massage.
After massage, guess what! We got food again!!!
And this time it was Penang Laksa ad Curry Fishball.

And these was really good!
The next day, before checkout, we get to eat the breakfast at the hotel and it was really good! As good as the street food !

It's a buffet breakfast with a widespread of different cuisines and we get the try all the cuisines.
We had more then 3 rounds of breakfast! full enough to keep us till dinner time ! LOL!
So that concludes my 2 days, technically only a day, JB trip!
Definitely visiting again especially when the train only takes 5 mins to reach from SG!
Definitely recommend!!
See you guys next time !
Signing off!
